Terms
- Purpose. The members named above agree to play the lottery game shown as a syndicate, from the date each member signs this agreement.
- Shares. Each member holds the number of shares shown. Any prize is divided in proportion to shares held at the time of the draw.
- Manager. The first member named is the syndicate manager unless the members agree otherwise in writing. The manager buys the tickets and keeps them safe.
- Payment. Members pay their contribution to the manager before the ticket is bought. A member who has not paid for a draw is not entitled to a share of that draw.
- Tickets and evidence. The manager keeps the tickets (or online confirmations) and shares a copy or photograph with members before each draw.
- Claiming. The manager claims any prize on behalf of the syndicate and distributes each member's share as soon as the operator has paid, and in any event within 14 days.
- Leaving and joining. A member may leave, or a new member may join, only by written agreement of all members; changes apply to draws after the change is agreed.
- Tax. Lottery prizes are not subject to UK income tax or capital gains tax. HMRC Statement of Practice E14 confirms that no inheritance tax arises on syndicate winnings paid out under an agreement made before the win — so every member should sign and date this agreement before the draw.
